"You look at the centermen we have with Jack [Eichel], Ryan O'Reilly, Casey Mittelstadt, then you have Sam Reinhart who can play center or wing. We fell we have some good young players we can build around."

This is gonna set some people here on suicide watch

The 2018 NHL Draft Lottery is in the books with the Buffalo Sabres winning the first-overall selection and taking Rasmus Dahlin.

Buffalo is looking at an elite franchise defenceman. He's to blueliners as what Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews are to centremen and what they were and are to their respective franchises.

A huge jump up to the second-overall selection should see the Carolina Hurricanes land winger Andrei Svechnikov. The Barrie Colts winger has a blend of skill, sense, power and drive that reminds me in style of Marian Hossa. Svechnikov is a factor in all areas of the game and will be in the NHL next season.

The Montreal Canadiens need offence and the third pick should be Filip Zadina of the Halifax Mooseheads. Zadina is an elite scoring winger who is dangerous from the circles down and competes to score inside the dots.

We have some talent coming but it’s going to take some time in the nhl... but i’ll Take it. And we might be lucky bastards but we have suffered more than our fair share. ...... I like the moves our gm is making hopefully he can find a finisher for jacks line.

Now are you happy that all the (non-fans) wanted the Sabres to lose all the games

Would Sabres trade right-shot D Rasmus Ristolainen (41 pts) to Oilers for the 10th overall pick and something else which would give Buff the No. 1 and No. 10 selections? Hearing he might be available

That kind of seems like the opposite of what Botterill said

Sam is one of Jack's wingers. GMJB is not going to bust up their chemistry unless Sam is traded for greater than his value, which he will not get. ROR is the rumored locker room riff, he's the center who now needs to be pushed down to 3C because of Mittelstadt. He is the guy who wants to be 1C and captain, but doesn't appear good enough. I don't see how ROR is not the piece that's moved.

Everyone might not agree, but I also see Nylander being Mittelstadts winger for years to come. They're the same age and seem to get along, chemistry will develop.

As stated right here in Pachla’s frontyard,

Sabres89 called the Josh Allen pick

I then requested he call for

Rasmus Dahlin with Josh Allen,

With sheepish giddiness
(think gerbes at 50 shades of Broke Back Mt)

89 said it would ruin or chance but he had Faith & Called it Anyway!

All Hail 89!

Thanks bud we all needed that!

Risto won't be moved. Besides having Dahlin as our number one, it also finally will allow us to slot our dmen where they belong. Risto has never been a number 1 dman, and now we don't have to try to force him to be.

I'm so giddy right now I really think we might have a shot at John Carlson

Then we can do some Trading get some young Wingers

And this team might be dangerous next year

- gerbe75pts

How much will it take per year to get Carlson? $7M? More?

Let's say it costs $7M per long term.

If Dahlin is as advertised, how much will he cost in 3 years? Ditto Mittelstadt.

I'm ok with getting Carlson, but that would mean it's mandatory to get rid of Bogo, ROR, and Okposo, and ASAP.

That sucks, because I thought he really has talent and we mismanaged him. But we're now in a nice position where we might not even have room for someone like him.

Dahlin - Risto
Guhle - Scanny
Nelson - McCabe
Bogo - Bowel U
- sskkoo1

Those 2, oh boy.
The others are fine...although, I would just love to get another D partner for Dahlin to slot Risto down on 2nd pairing where he is better suited, IMO.

You're crazy with this stuff. Always overreacting - how do you get through life ? It must really suck being you.

Yes, let's get rid of a couple of the only good players we have ... makes sense.

Neither will be moved, and you'll overreact again. I wonder at what age you'll finally calm down ?

Yep, we'll be in cap hell soon enough. Three years from now:

Eichel- 10M
Dahlin - 10M
RoR (if not moved) 7.5M
Mitts - 7M
Sam - 6M (probably after a bridge deal)
Risto - 5.4M
Okposo - 6M (if not traded or bought out)

That's 52M realistically, not including a guy like Nylander who might still end up being paid, and Ullmark who if he becomes our #1 will want at least 4M. Good thing GMJB is good with the books, because he's soon going to have to make magic happen.

What do you mean None will be moved? So we’re just going to forget about them being poopty ?

Our GM already said the core would not be the same

Faster game style one will be gone

And how the hell do you think we’re going to get Jacks winger? From the sky

agreed. After a year of the NHL duty, I think Guhle might be able to be a #2.
